Privacy policy
Dartic teaches Dart through lessons, quizzes and a code runner. This policy explains what information the app and this website collect, why, who else handles it, and how you can see or delete it.
The short version
- We collect what's needed to run your account: your name, email, username and learning progress.
- The code you write stays on your device. It runs there and isn't uploaded.
- Payments are handled by Apple or Google. We never see your card details.
- We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time (Profile → Delete account).
01Who we are
Dartic is operated by Odinachi David, an individual developer based in Nigeria ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at odinachidavid@yahoo.com.
This policy covers the Dartic app for iOS and Android and the website at dartic.odinachi.space.
02What we collect
When you sign in
You can use the Dart course as a guest without an account. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive and store:
| Data | Details |
|---|---|
| Account details | Your name, email address and profile photo from Google or Apple, and a unique account ID. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email; we then receive a private relay address. |
| Profile | The username and experience level you choose, and when you joined. |
| Learning progress | Your current lesson, the lessons you've passed and the problems you've solved. |
| Gems | Your gem balance, the solutions you've unlocked and which problems you've already been rewarded for. |
| Purchase records | For gem purchases: the product, number of gems, store (Apple or Google), transaction ID and date. No payment card details. |
Collected automatically
| Data | Details |
|---|---|
| App usage | Which screens and features are used, collected by Google Analytics for Firebase with an app instance ID, device model, OS version, app version and approximate location (country or city, from your IP address). |
| Crash reports | When the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics records technical details such as the device model, OS version and what the app was doing. |
| Notifications | If you allow notifications, a push token from Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send them. |
What stays on your device
Code you write in the editor, your editor history, quiz drafts and app preferences such as the theme are stored only on your device. Code you run executes on your device; it isn't sent to us. If you're a guest, your progress is also kept only on your device.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location or advertising identifiers.
03How we use it
- To provide the app: sign you in, save and sync your progress across devices, and show your profile.
- To run gems: keep your balance, unlock solutions you pay for, reward solved problems and credit purchases.
- To fix and improve Dartic: find crashes and bugs, and understand which lessons and features are used.
- To send notifications you've agreed to, such as learning reminders.
- To keep things fair and secure: prevent abuse of gems and purchases, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, and we don't use it for advertising or share it with advertisers.
04Legal bases
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (and, where it applies to you, the EU or UK GDPR), we rely on:
- Contract: to provide your account, progress, gems and purchases.
- Legitimate interests: crash reporting, usage analytics and fraud prevention, to keep the app working and improve it.
- Consent: push notifications. You can withdraw it at any time in your device settings.
- Legal obligation: keeping purchase records where the law requires it.
06Purchases and gems
Gem packs are bought through Apple's App Store or Google Play. They handle the payment and your payment details; we only receive a confirmation of the purchase (product, store, transaction ID and date) via RevenueCat, which we use to add the gems to your account and to handle refunds.
07How long we keep it
- Account, profile, progress and gems: until you delete your account.
- Purchase records: for as long as we need them for accounting, tax, refunds and fraud prevention, or as the law requires.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days in Firebase Crashlytics.
- Analytics: according to the retention period set in Google Analytics for Firebase.
- On your device: until you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
08Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your personal data, including in a portable format;
- correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your data;
- restrict or object to how we use it (for example, analytics);
- withdraw consent you've given, such as for notifications.
Email odinachidavid@yahoo.com and we'll reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission, or to the data protection authority where you live.
09Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, learning progress and gem wallet (including unlocked solutions and any unused gems you bought) and your sign-in account. It can't be undone.
10Security
Data is encrypted in transit and stored with Google Cloud, which encrypts it at rest. Access is restricted by security rules so each user can only read their own private data, and only our server can add purchased gems. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will act promptly on any breach as the law requires.
11International transfers
Our providers may store and process data outside Nigeria, including in the United States and the European Union. Where we transfer personal data internationally, we rely on our providers' contractual and security safeguards, as permitted under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
12Children
Dartic isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data. If you're under 18, please use Dartic with the permission of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
13This website
This website doesn't use cookies or ask you to sign in. It uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and visits in aggregate without cookies or tracking you across other sites. Our hosting providers keep short-lived server logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability. Your theme choice is saved in your browser.
14Changes
We'll update this policy when the app or the law changes, and change the date at the top. If a change significantly affects how we use your data, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
